Mr. Medhee Jarumaneeroj, Hibiocy's executive director announced the good news of strides being made, saying that successful research is leading to the development of a novel COVID-19 preventive product in the form of a 'nasal spray' capable of preventing COVID-19 infection from all strains. "Currently, Hibiocy has already mediated successful preclinical studies of the spray as well as human clinical trials in compliance with international standards, having utilized Clinical Trial Management System (CTMS) and services provided by Ever Medical Technologies Co., Ltd. to collect, manage, analyze and store data from the study. Now, the product has been approved as a class 4 medical device by the Thai FDA, and is expected to be available for market distribution by the end of this year."
Mr. Medhee stated that the rationale for the nasal spray research arose from a dire need to slow the pandemic as coronavirus continues to spread despite mass vaccination. "Our extensive research on human antibodies has resulted in a breakthrough discovery that opens the doors to new immune boosting medical technologies. The Faculty of Medicine at Chulalongkorn University, Health Systems Research Institute (HSRI), and Silpakorn University's combined research of human antibodies as a preventative approach against COVID-19 infection caught our attention at Hibiocy because of its unique technological potential."
Of note in the novel COVID-19 preventive nasal spray is the innovative use of human antibodies, utilizing some of their inherent qualities to help defend against the viral infection.
