Ms. Pavarisa Chumvigrant, Chief Marketing Officer of FWD Life Insurance, highlighted, "Through ongoing efforts to highlight critical illnesses, FWD Insurance has observed that customers facing such health challenges often find their current medical coverage limited to critical illness expenses alone. However, this only scratches the surface of preparedness, as there may be accompanying side effects or additional illnesses, particularly those associated with chronic non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, and diabetes. These diseases claim up to 41 million lives annually, representing 74 percent of the global death rate, as reported by the World Health Organization or WHO. They are also the leading cause of death among Thai people* and can lead to further complications. Additionally, a health and welfare survey conducted by the National Statistical Office*** in 2023 revealed that females exhibit a higher incidence of chronic illnesses and underlying diseases compared to males (21.3 percent and 15.5 percent, respectively). Furthermore, about half of individuals aged 60 years and older suffer from chronic illnesses and underlying diseases, with a rate of 56.3 percent, the highest among various age groups."
