Leading Edge Seminar Series - “Wired Communities - IcT s about Learning” 09.00-16.00, Friday, 6th February, Concorde Rooms, InterContinental Hotel, Bangkok
H.E Minister of Information and Communications Technology, Dr Surapong Suebwonglee will open this event. The event will involve 6 keynote speakers from the private and public sector in the UK detailing developments and experiences in the implementation of ICT in teaching and learning.
The event will highlight some of the education and training opportunities as well as ICT business development possibilities ICT implementation presents in Thailand by documenting the experience and developments in the UK.
Specifically the event will detail
- the role of ICT in transforming teaching and learning inside schools and the workplace;
- the development Knowledge Centres;
- case studies on the myths and realities of developing online services for knowledge and learning
- case studies on successful private-public sector online prodcuts and services on education and ICT
Keynote presentations will be in English with panel discussions in Thai. Simultaneous translation will be available through the event.

This topic debates the transformational nature of ICT, and asks how we can best harness this powerful new tool. This event will be discussing the current focus of ICT strategies to create electronic citizens and communities and the transformational implications this has for business, workplace learning, and the role of schools and libraries. The event will debate some of the myths and realities of such an approach and raise discussion over what the terms e-cities and e-citizens really mean in business, learning and day to day society. The event will be organised in conjunction with the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology, the Software Investment and Promotion Agency (SIPA) and the Software Park of Thailand.
