Building an understanding of 'impressions' and 'living' through concepts of philosophy, an examination of history, and interactions with people, IM-PERMANENCE exhibits mixed media artworks created in duet with Artificial Intelligence (AI) by high school students of VERSO International School, Bangkok.
About IM-PERMANENCE
There is an innate desire to make meaning of life, leave impressions, and not be forgotten. How do the impressions we want to leave behind influence the life we choose to live? By gathering perspectives and beliefs from others, student artists from VERSO International School formed ideas of impressions' impact on our identity and existence to create artworks representing their beliefs on how we should live.
Building an understanding of 'impressions' and 'living' through concepts of philosophy, an examination of history, and interactions with people, IM-PERMANENCE exhibits mixed media artworks created in duet with Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Often our understanding and beliefs are shaped through our interactions. The exhibition offers a display alongside artworks that capture the narratives of those the student artists met who have shaped their perspectives. While they interacted with others, they also held conversations with the 'machine' (AI), sharing their formed beliefs. The dialogue between the student artists and the AI machine sparks a dynamic and continuous process of refinement, as both parties deepen their understanding of the complex interplay between impressions and the way we choose to live our lives. The resulting mixed media artworks not only capture the artists' evolving beliefs, but also offer a compelling commentary on the profound impact that our desire for immortality can have on our individual and collective identities.
Through their creative exploration of impermanence and AI technology, these student artists invite us to contemplate our own legacies and the indelible marks we hope to leave on the world.
