Health has become a top priority for people today, driven by the growing desire for longevity and well-being. Many individuals are now focusing on holistic health, both internally and externally. This rising demand is a key factor fueling the expansion of the healthcare and wellness industry.
According to the Global Wellness Institute (GWI), the global health and wellness economy is expected to grow at an impressive annual rate of 8.6% until 2027, with the market value surpassing $8.5 trillion, equivalent to approximately 306 trillion baht. This represents almost double the market size compared to 2019 and exceeds the growth rate of the global economy.
Data from Thailand's Department of Business Development (as of January 31, 2025) shows that Thailand has 28,536 registered healthcare and wellness businesses, with a total registered capital of 359.321 billion baht and a combined revenue of 1.13 trillion baht. The sector is divided into the following categories:
- Spa and wellness massage services - 1,806 businesses, 10.315 billion baht in capital
- Beauty services - 2,421 businesses, 6.574 billion baht in capital
- Medical services - 9,570 businesses, 218.202 billion baht in capital
- Elderly care services - 765 businesses, 4.216 billion baht in capital
- Wholesale and retail of medical pharmaceuticals - 13,974 businesses, 120.014 billion baht in capital
Furthermore, the Thai government has set a goal to establish Thailand as an international health hub, aiming to generate at least 800 billion baht from the Wellness & Healthcare sector by 2027.
