As the international art market returns to growth and contemporary art from Asia and Southeast Asia continues to attract greater global attention, the timing presents an opportunity for Thailand to strengthen its position as an increasingly important connector within the region's art ecosystem.
More than simply a platform for exhibiting and acquiring art, art bangkok 2026 aims to become a meeting point for the wider Art Ecosystem — bringing together artists, galleries, collectors, curators, museums, art institutions, businesses and audiences, while creating new opportunities for Thailand's art scene to connect more meaningfully with regional and international networks.
Taking place from 7-11 October 2026 at NEX Hall and Jewel Zone, 5th Floor, Siam Paragon, the fair will span more than 1,500 square metres and bring together over 20 leading galleries from Thailand and abroad, presenting works by artists across generations. The programme will also feature talks, knowledge-sharing sessions and networking opportunities designed to encourage dialogue and build connections among art professionals, collectors and the wider public.
An Art Market in Recovery, as Asia Takes on a Greater Role
The launch of art bangkok 2026 comes as the global art market returns to growth following two consecutive years of contraction.
According to The Art Basel and UBS Global Art Market Report 2026, global art sales rose by 4% in 2025 to US$59.6 billion, equivalent to approximately THB 1.96 trillion. Art fairs also accounted for 35% of dealer turnover, up from 31% in 2024 and the highest proportion since
These figures underline the evolving role of art fairs beyond commercial transactions. Increasingly, fairs serve as important platforms for discovering artists, developing relationships with collectors and connecting different parts of the art world.
At the same time, Asia is seeing significant momentum across its art markets and wider ecosystems, driven by the continued development of galleries, institutions and art platforms, 2022.as well as growing opportunities for artists to reach international audiences and collectors.
Thailand already has many of the ingredients of a dynamic art ecosystem — from talented artists and galleries to collectors, museums, institutions and a growing calendar of cultural activities. The next opportunity is to create a shared platform that connects these elements more effectively, while opening further pathways between Thailand and the regional and international art communities.
Suphita Charoenwattanamongkol, Representative of the Thai Galleries Association (TGA), said "Thailand has artists with enormous potential, a strong community of galleries, collectors and institutions, and a growing audience with a genuine interest in art. What we want to add is a central platform where all of these elements can come together — and connect more meaningfully with the international art world.
"art bangkok was therefore not created simply to add another art fair to the calendar. Our ambition is to build a platform that can grow alongside Thailand's art scene — creating opportunities for artists to meet new audiences and collectors, enabling galleries to expand their networks, and opening a door for international visitors to discover and engage more deeply with art in Thailand.
"The First Chapter is exactly that: a beginning. We hope art bangkok can become one of the mechanisms that strengthens Thailand's Art Ecosystem and helps Bangkok develop deeper connections with the regional and international art world over the long term."
The First Chapter — From Art Fair to Art Ecosystem
The concept of "The First Chapter" reflects the beginning of a platform that looks beyond the traditional boundaries of an art fair.
Rather than focusing solely on exhibiting and selling artworks, art bangkok seeks to connect people, knowledge and opportunities — from artists and galleries to collectors, curators, museums, institutions and audiences.
The fair will therefore combine gallery presentations and works by artists from different countries with talks, knowledge-sharing programmes, networking activities and opportunities for art communities from Thailand and abroad to meet.
The goal is to create conversations, relationships and collaborations with the potential to continue long after the fair itself has ended.
Changnoi Kunjara, Managing Director and Co-Founder of The Cloud, said "We believe art should never belong only to people who are already part of the art world. Everyone should have the opportunity to discover, learn about, talk about and build their own relationship with art. We want art bangkok to open the art world to a wider audience — including people who may never have stepped inside a gallery before.
"Bangkok has an extraordinary combination of cultural diversity, creative energy and people from around the world. We want to harness that potential to create a space where artists, galleries, collectors, creative professionals and the public can come together.
"The success of The First Chapter will therefore not be measured by sales alone. It will also be measured by the new discoveries, new relationships and new conversations that begin here and continue beyond the fair — ultimately making art a more visible part of Bangkok's contemporary culture and everyday life."
UOB Extends Its Long-Term Support for Artists by Creating New Platforms for Visibility
Dhornratana Olanhankij, Country Head of Brand, Media and Communications, UOB Thailand, said "Artists need opportunities to create, to have their work seen and to build lasting careers. UOB's commitment to art spans more than 45 years. Through UOB Painting of the Year, we recognise artistic talent across Southeast Asia and help artists build on that recognition through opportunities to exhibit their work and reach new audiences.
"Our support for art bangkok 2026 as Lead Partner continues this commitment. Through UOB Art Space and the presentation of works by artists from the UOB Painting of the Year programme, we are helping artists connect with galleries, collectors and art enthusiasts from Thailand and overseas. These relationships can open doors to future exhibitions and collaborations.
"We believe in the potential of Thai artists and work with our partners to bring their work to wider audiences. A thriving arts community depends on sustained support, giving artists the opportunity to develop their practice and build relationships that help their careers grow."
Six Elements Shaping The First Chapter
Across more than 1,500 square metres, the concept of The First Chapter comes to life through six interconnected components designed to take audiences on a journey from discovering and understanding art to collecting, caring for artworks and building relationships with people across the art community.
- Gallery Zone — Ways of Seeing
At the heart of the fair, the Gallery Zone brings together leading galleries from Thailand and overseas, with an emphasis on each gallery's distinctive curatorial perspective and approach to selecting works.
The zone invites audiences to discover new artists, artworks and different ways of seeing contemporary art.
Participating galleries include Art Agenda, Artas Galeri, Artemis Art, Blue Velvet Underground, Gallery CURU, G13 Gallery, Galeri Sasha, Gallery Grimson, Joyman Gallery, KYLA Gallery, L GALLERY, M Contemporary Bangkok, M Contemporary Seoul, Maison JE, Number 1 Gallery, Palette Art Space, Richard Koh Fine Art and WORKS WORKS, alongside UOB Art Space, bringing together Thai and international galleries within one destination.
- Past | Present | Future — A Curated Dialogue Across Generations
This section creates a dialogue between different periods and generations of art — from established masters and recognised contemporary artists to emerging voices.
Developed in collaboration with galleries, museums, foundations, art organisations, collectors and art award organisations, the programme explores both continuity and transformation across generations and within the wider art world.
- Art Jewel — Art in Different Contexts
Art Jewel explores the ways art can be presented, experienced and valued within different contexts.
Highlights include works by emerging Thai artists from the UOB Painting of the Year competition, presentations from internationally recognised Dorothy Circus Gallery, and works presented by Bangkok Art Auction, offering visitors perspectives on how art functions within the worlds of exhibitions, markets and collecting.
- Museums & Institutions — Living with Art
Moving beyond simply viewing art, this section explores what it means to live with, preserve and build lasting relationships with art through presentations from museums and collectors.
Curatorial Partners include the Office of Contemporary Art and Culture (OCAC) and MoNWIC Art Museum at Jewel Dome, highlighting the role institutions play in preserving, interpreting and sustaining the long-term cultural value of art.
- Art Care & Stewardship — Caring for Art
This section introduces another essential dimension of collecting: the knowledge, expertise and services required to care for artworks over time.
Global art logistics specialist Helutrans will share expertise covering artwork installation, framing, transportation, insurance and storage, demonstrating that collecting does not end with acquiring a work — it also involves preserving and protecting its value for the future.
- Art Ecosystem — Inclusive Art Circle
Designed as a space where the people and organisations that drive the art world can connect, this section brings together media, art award organisations, collector communities, associations and foundations alongside talks, knowledge-sharing sessions and networking activities.
A dedicated VIP Lounge will also provide a meeting space for collectors, artists, galleries, partners and invited guests, encouraging new relationships, conversations and potential collaborations.
Together, the six components form one interconnected experience — taking visitors from the discovery and appreciation of art to collecting, conservation and community building.
In doing so, art bangkok offers an opportunity to see and experience the broader Art Ecosystem within a single fair.
