Held on 3 September 2026 at the Kampan Thong Hall, 21st Floor, The Ministry of Finance 150 Years Commemorative Building, Ministry of Finance, the training briefed volunteers on core operational guidelines, introduced functional task forces, and conducted walkthrough simulations to ensure seamless cross-agency coordination ahead of welcoming global economic and financial delegates.
Mr. Nadhavudh Dhamasiri, Deputy Director-General of the Fiscal Policy Office (FPO) and Chairman of the Operational Readiness Training Program, highlighted that the 2026 IMF-World Bank Group Annual Meetings are widely regarded as the premier international financial gathering, or the "Olympics of Finance," held under Thailand's central theme: "Thailand's New Horizons: Empowering People, Building Resilience." As such, preparing personnel across all operational fronts is vital.
Key areas covered during the sessions included venue management and catering, accommodation, protocol and reception, transport logistics, security, delegate registration and accreditation, publications, information technology (IT) and audiovisual systems, the Thailand Pavilion exhibition, and central secretariat coordination. These teams serve as the primary frontline representing Thailand's capability, dedication, and signature hospitality to over 15,000 delegates from 191 member countries.
Deputy Director-General Nadhavudh stated that the program provided comprehensive briefings on the scope of work for each committee and volunteer unit, alongside full evaluations of event facilities. Thailand's infrastructure is fully primed: the world-class convention venue at QSNCC, seamless transit links connecting BTS, MRT, Airport Rail Link, and expressway networks, as well as premium international-standard hotels and leading medical centers. The training emphasized close inter-agency integration to guarantee safe, efficient, and flawless execution throughout the event.
"Hosting this premier global event is a source of national pride that delivers immediate and long-term benefits across multiple sectors," said Mr. Nadhavudh. "In the short term, it generates direct economic turnover for Bangkok's hotels, restaurants, transit, and service businesses. Furthermore, Thailand will leverage this global stage to channel economic value directly to local communities nationwide by showcasing Thai soft power and cultural identity throughout the venue. Authentic Thai textiles sourced from 26 local communities across 21 provinces will decorate the main plenary and meeting halls, while select Geographical Indication (GI) products and local ingredients have been curated to create welcoming food and beverage menus for delegates. In addition, the event will feature the Thailand Pavilion to showcase iconic Thai culture—including Muay Thai and traditional Thai massage— leaving a lasting impression on international delegates while invigorating communities.
This training program forms a core milestone of the "Road to Thailand" campaign, designed to drive total readiness across all stakeholder groups leading up to the official meetings on 12-18 October 2026. Equipping personnel to deliver high-standard service is fundamental to the mission's overall success.
