As part of Volvo Group's continuous improvement to provide customers with better product offerings, faster service solutions, closer communications and tighter business relations, Volvo Buses has established a new legal entity in Thailand, Volvo Bus (Thailand) Ltd.

This new company will allow Volvo Buses to continue the long-term focus and presence in the Thailand bus market and become a more efficient and agile group that is closer to its partners and customers.

"Thailand is one of the core markets for Volvo Buses in Asia Pacific. We see a strong potential and long lasting growing trend in the bus market here in South East Asia. The set-up of the new legal entity of Volvo Bus Thailand aligns with our long term strategic priorities and shows our strong focus in the market and our great commitment to build a tighter business relationship with our customers, which will in turn help build stronger confidence in them," said David Mead, Vice President of Volvo Buses APAC.

The new Volvo Bus Thailand company will have a more direct presence in the Thailand market and be available to sell buses directly to Thailand customers as the need arises. Additionally Volvo's long lasting partnership with Cherdchai Motor Sales Co., Ltd will continue with the Cherdchai Industrial Factory Co., Ltd remaining a preferred bodybuilder for Volvo Buses in Thailand and allowing the Cherdchai Motor Sales Co., Ltd to continue to sell to, and support, its many loyal customers in Thailand.

The set up of the new company is also part of the Volvo Group's recent announcement to form a strategic alliance with Isuzu Motors. The strategic alliance between AB Volvo and Isuzu Motors includes Isuzu Motor?s acquisition of UD Trucks and the transaction is expected to be closed during the first half of 2021, subject to certain conditions and regulatory approvals.

The existing dealer network in the Thailand market will be managed by UD Trucks Corporation (Thailand) Co., Ltd.. This network will continue to provide parts sales, maintenance and repairs for Volvo Buses in the Thailand market.

This new company demonstrates Volvo's commitment to the Thailand market. "Volvo has a proud history and a well-established presence in the market, which we wish to continue for many years to come. The set-up of new company in Thailand marks a new chapter for Volvo Buses in Thailand. Me and my team are passionate to start this new journey and committed to be the best business partners of our customers," said Dechchai Kulkarineetham, Managing Director of Volvo Buses Thailand.
