Honda City Turbo and Honda Accord Receive Four Awards in the ASEAN NCAP Grand Prix Awards 2020 Marks Honda's Commitment to Creating Quality Vehicles that Offer the Highest Safety in Every Journey.

Honda Automobile (Thailand) Co., Ltd. announced another milestone when it received four awards for 5-Star ASEAN NCAP Safety Ratings in the ASEAN NCAP (New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries) Grand Prix Awards 2020 for its achievements in vehicle safety standards tests. The Honda City Turbo received the "ASEAN NCAP Excellent Award - Consistent 5 Star" for consecutively achieving 5-star safety ratings over its past three generations while the 10th Generation Honda Accord received three awards for its 5-Star safety rating in the "Best Safety Performance" category in Adult Occupant Protection (AOP), Child Occupant Protection (COP), and Overall (the highest score of the overall assessment).

The 5th Generation Honda City Receives "ASEAN NCAP Excellent Award - Consistent 5 Star"
The 5th Generation Honda City has continually maintained unparalleled vehicle safety standards from its 3rd to the latest 5th generation. The current 5th generation Honda City which underwent ASEAN NCAP testing is a model that is manufactured and distributed in Thailand. This model was also first introduced in Thailand in November 2019 with sales of over 38,000 units after the launch (Sales results as of January 2021). The model was ranked Best-Selling Vehicle in the eco-subcompact and subcompact segment in Thailand in 2020. This accomplishment emphasizes the Honda City Turbo's status as a leading city car that has gained the trust and confidence of Thai customers, along with many other proven awards from several automobile institutes including Car of the Year for Best Sedan under 1,000 c.c. and Thailand Automotive Quality Awards 2020 (TAQA) for Outstanding Initial Quality Satisfaction for a Small Passenger Car.

The Honda City Turbo is powered by a new 1.0-liter DOHC 3-cylinder, 12-valve VTEC TURBO engine that delivers a maximum 122 PS and maximum torque of 173 newton-meters and ensures ultimate fuel efficiency of 23.8 kilometers/liter. It is also more environmentally friendly as it has a CO2 emission rate of only 99 grams/kilometer.

The Honda City Turbo is fully equipped with advanced safety features* including six airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Hill Start Assist (HSA), Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), Multi-angle Rearview Camera, and a G-Force Control (G-CON) body structure.

The 10th Generation Honda Accord received three awards for its 5-Star Safety Rating in the "Best Safety Performance" category in Adult Occupant Protection (AOP), Child Occupant Protection (COP), and Overall (the highest score of the overall assessment).

The 10th Generation Honda Accord TURBO EL variant that underwent the testing is manufactured and distributed in Thailand. It was officially launched in Southeast Asia starting with Thailand in March 2019, followed by six other countries in the region. It's success in Thailand was proven by achieving Car of the Year 2019 for Best Mid-Size Sedan under 1,800 c.c., and ranking No.1 for sales in the D-Segment Car category in 2020. These awards reflect its leadership as a premium sedan of uncompromising quality that meets the ultimate safety standards for everyone sharing the roads.

To ensure a safe journey, the 10th Generation Honda Accord Hybrid variant comes with an integrated set of advanced safety technologies including Honda SENSING, which uses a combination of radar and a monocular camera to detect the road environment, then alerts and assists the driver in critical driving situations that could lead to an accident. Honda SENSING is comprised of the following safety functions:

  • Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS)
  • Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow (ACC with LSF)
  • Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS)
  • Road Departure Mitigation System with Lane Departure Warning (RDM with LDW)
  • Auto High-Beam (AHB).

It also features other advanced and premium technologies* including a Multi-View Camera System (MVCS), Cross Traffic Monitor (CTM), and Honda Smart Parking Assist System.

The 10th Generation Honda Accord comes with additional cutting-edge safety technologies* including six airbags, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Hill Start Assist (HSA), Multi-angle Rearview Camera, Electric Parking Brake (EPB), Automatic Brake Hold, and Honda LaneWatch. It also has a G-CON (G-Force Control) body structure that is built with Advanced Compatibility Engineering(TM) (ACE(TM)), a highly unique body structure design technology that offers absolute safety.
