With over 20 years of gastronomic experience in royal Thai cuisine, Chef Thomas (Vorapol Itthikhanesorn) showcases his intricate rice soaked in cool water as a showstopper, which can be sent to loved ones as a gift for the Thai New Year, to his regular patrons as well as first timers.
Available from April 1 to June 30, the-once-a-year treat comes in four options: 495 baht for a single set, 750 baht with a hand garland, 1,290 baht for a large set in a wicker food carrier, and 1,590 baht for a large set in a wicker food carrier with a hand garland.
"Meticulously crafted, the rice, which comes from Pathum Thani province where produces kernel and aromatic rice that is similar to Thai jasmine rice, gets through the cleaning and soaking process for 7 times. The cooked rice will then be infused by cold
jasmine water and left overnight with a scented candle to give it the fragrance. It is served along with 9 elaborate condiments including salted egg with butterfly pea flowers,
shredded pork, crispy shrimp paste balls, sauteed shrimp and red onions, sauteed sweet and sour fish, deep fried egg wrapped Chinese sausage and marinated minced pork, sauteed radish with plum sugar, and a side of fresh vegetables," says Chef Thomas.
