The Mother of All Culinary Takeovers: SAMRUB SAMRUB THAI Returns to Spice Market

Thursday 22 April 2021 09:33
Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel is delighted to announce an exclusive takeover of Spice Market, the luxury hotel's signature Thai restaurant, by Chef Prin Polsuk and the culinary team behind one of Bangkok's most talked about private dining kitchens, SAMRUB SAMRUB THAI.

Acting as a second eatery for the almost impossible to book Charoenkrung culinary hotspot, 'Spice Market by SAMRUB SAMRUB THAI' at Anantara Siam opens now and runs through October 2021.  A similar two-nights-only takeover of the storied Bangkok venue by Chef Prin earlier this year saw the restaurant booked out in a matter of hours.

Chef Prin, one of Bangkok's best loved chefs and an aristocrat among Thai cooks, previously headed Sala Rim Naam on the banks of the Chao Phraya River, before heading to London's swanky Park Lane to take the helm at Michelin-starred Nahm.  His much-anticipated return to the Kingdom saw him leading the Bangkok edition of Nahm onto the World's 50 Best Restaurants list, followed by a Michelin star accolade in 2018.

The hottest culinary ticket in town in 2021, SAMRUB SAMRUB THAI was co-founded by Chef Prin as an educational platform to advocate the preservation of traditional Thai cooking methods and techniques, and often forgotten ingredients.  Here a dedicated team of talented chefs reinterprets homestyle recipes in a seasonal menu of classic dishes that date back to the era of King Rama VI and passed through generations in cookbooks and handwritten recipes.

'Spice Market by SAMRUB SAMRUB THAI' offers a 5-course lunch menu and a choice of 7- and 10-course dinner menus.  Dishes include raw cured fish with mustard green and mint; southern grilled chicken with coconut cream; and sour fruit relish with shrimp paste and dried prawn, served with fresh fruit and vegetables, and grilled fish with turmeric.  Chef Prin's classic traditional beef curry is undoubtedly a showstopper.

Set menus cost THB 1,100 for the 5-course lunch menu and THB 2,300 and THB 2,800 respectively for the 7- and 10-course dinner menus.  Prices are subject to 10 percent service charge and 7 percent applicable government tax.
