Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suvit Saetia, the President of KMUTT, stated that "According to the Times Higher Educations Impact Rankings, it reflects that KMUTT had outstanding works in SDG7, Affordable and Clean Energy. The assessment was conducted on the research outcomes relevant to energy, policy and plan leading to clean energy, efficient energy consumption, the University's energy consumption, and determination to widely promote efficient energy consumption in the community. We scored 84.4% and is the world 1st rank."
KMUTT's performance related to SDG7 focuses on 3 purposes: the community's access to clean energy, the increase of renewable energy proportion, and improvement of efficiency of KMUTT's energy consumption. Our outstanding work is the emphasis on studying of and conducting research on clean energy and energy management. KMUTT is the first university that founded the School of Energy, Environment, and Materials. There are also other units at KMUTT that do research and provide academic services on energy management, i.e., The Joint Graduate School of Energy and Environment (JGSEE), Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Science, and Pilot Plant Development and Training Institute (PDTI), etc. Additionally, KMUTT have cooperated with other organizations to produce various research outputs which have been used for the benefit of communities and society.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suvit Saetia further stated that in addition to the world's 1st rank for SDG7 measured by THE Impact Rankings, in this year, KMUTT also excelled in other 6 SDGs, i.e., the world's 24th rank for SDG6: Clean Water and Sanitation ( scoring 74.8%), the world's 30th rank for SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production (scoring 74.8%), the world 46th rank for SDG1: No Poverty (scoring 72.2%), the world's 47th rank for SDG17: Partnership for the Goals (scoring 89.7%), the world's 50th rank for SDG14: Life below Water (scoring 71.8%), and the world's 77th rank for SDG2: Zero hunger (scoring 63.6%).
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suvit Saetia concluded that "THE Impact Rankings 2021 reflects the operations of KMUTT where the SDGs 2030 goals are emphasized in the 3 main areas: energy management, environment, and safety. Moreover, it also reflects the cooperation of all sectors to bring about sustainable development of the University and society through teaching, learning and other activities. Ranking the first in the world compared with worldwide universities that submitted the reports for consideration under SDG7 is a great pleasure and KMUTT determines to develop education, research, and social services based on goals of SDGs 2030 in producing green-hearted students who will become the social change agents to apply their knowledge and skills to create an impact at societal, national, and global levels."
