EXIM Thailand Finances RCL Group's Expansion of Thai Fleets for Intercontinental Cargo Transport

Dr. Rak Vorrakitpokatorn (left), President of Export-Import Bank of Thailand (EXIM Thailand), and Mr. Sumate Tanthuwanit (right), President of Regional Container Lines Plc. (RCL), jointly signed a financing facility agreement worth a total of 138 million US dollars at EXIM Thailand's Head Office on January 12, 2022 for Santi Bhum Co., Ltd. and Thitti Bhum Co., Ltd., under the RCL Group to finance their building of two new Neo Panamax cargo vessels with a capacity of 11,714 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) suitable for use in Asia-Europe-America intercontinental cargo transportation, which would help reduce transportation costs and increase volume of cargo handling capabilities of Thai marine fleets.

Our financial facility this time aims to enhance Thai fleets' competitiveness alongside logistics facilitation with a view to cutting down Thai exporters' transportation costs and leveling up their readiness for international maritime transport even under the current COVID-19 pandemic situation filled with uncertainties, albeit new opportunities for business sectors which have started accommodating the recovery pace of global economy in the Next Normal era," added Dr. Rak.
