Huawei Digital Power, a leading solar energy solutions provider, joined hands with King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) to establish the first-ever Green Energy Academy in Asia Pacific with the goal of nurturing the future of digital power development and accelerating the transformation of the energy sector through educating the youth of Thailand.
Huawei and KMUTT Join Hands to Establish the First Green Energy Academy in Asia Pacific

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Mr. Logan Yu, President of Digital Power Dept, Huawei Technologies (Thailand) Co., Ltd., and Asst. Prof. Dr. Prasert Kanthamanon, Senior Vice President for Administrative Affairs of King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), to set up the Green Energy Academy and mark the start of a long-term partnership between the two parties, as well as underline another significant step toward an era of carbon neutrality in Thailand.

Under this partnership, both parties will develop 3 different levels of courseware and learning materials that range from basic knowledge of solar and its solutions, to the installation and design guidance for rooftop solar and floating solar farms. It aims to help students identify their future career paths, cultivate knowledge of solar at an early stage, and educate and reshape them from new graduates into experienced technical supervisors.

Mr. Logan Yu explains: "Huawei Digital Power is committed to integrating digital and power electronic technologies to drive the energy transition and build a greener and brighter future. We currently operate in over 2.4 GW solar rooftops and solar farms in Thailand and have helped reduced 6.72 million tonnes of carbon emissions in Thailand so far. With the background we have, we plan to utilize our knowledge, appliances, and experiences with solar energy solutions to create a bridge between green ICT infrastructure and academia. Both Huawei and KMUTT aim to nurture the future talents of Thailand and equip them with the necessary knowledge, education, and skillset to pursue their future careers. Graduates from this program will become some of Thailand's most valuable future workforce due to the rapid rise of the carbon neutrality trend across Thailand and the world. We are committed, as we always have been, to bringing intelligence to everyone, every home and every organization to create a fully connected, intelligent and sustainable digital Thailand."

Asst. Prof. Dr. Prasert adds: "This joint initiative is expected to bring forward well-rounded green energy courses that are open to all students and non-students with knowledge equivalent to third-year engineering undergraduates, as well as offering hands-on experience with the first Green Energy Classroom in Thailand, equipped with the latest FusionSolar Smart PV solutions and advanced solar rooftop at KMUTT and provided by Huawei. Furthermore, this collaboration will offer internship programs at Huawei, which I believe are a very rare opportunity for future engineers. The Green Energy Academy is expected to benefit at least 200 participating students in the next 3 years and will provide many talented acquisitions for a future carbon-neutral Thailand."

Through this collaboration, Huawei and KMUTT aspire to create more awareness of the fundamentals of green energy with knowledge and education for students at an early start of their careers and are committed to continue this initiative in accordance with the increasing need for a green ICT infrastructure in Thailand. Huawei Digital Power is proud to help lead the way for Thailand to a future with zero-carbon grids that is cleaner, friendlier and cost effective.
