Members of the management at The Okura Prestige Bangkok visited S.O.S Children's Villages Bangpoo branch to meet the children and present the funds raised at the hotel's "Stellar Charity Night at Okura," a highly successful event that featured a delectable six-course dinner created by a Michelin star-studded team of chefs from The Okura Prestige Bangkok and its sister hotel in The Netherlands, Hotel Okura Amsterdam.
The visit to Bangpoo was led by Mr. Niek Hammer, General Manager; Ms. Oraya Temkasarp, Director of Human Resources; Ms. Parichat Devahastin, Marketing Communications Manager; and The Okura Prestige Bangkok's CSR representatives. They were welcomed by Ms. Chantira Sombookkerd, Fund Development and Communications Director of S.O.S Children's Villages in Thailand and a number of the charity's young charges.
Commenting on the visit Mr. Hammer said, "The work of S.O.S Children's Villages in Thailand really touches our hearts and our time at Bangpoo convinces me more than ever that we made absolutely the right choice of charity to support with our inaugural fundraising gala event. My colleagues and I strongly believe that children are our future and that it is our obligation to help shape a brighter tomorrow for them. We have made a great start with over Baht 1.2 million going towards creating learning and life-skills opportunities for underprivileged kids. Once again I take this opportunity to thank all involved - from our generous partners and sponsors, and the guests who participated in the event and gave so much, to our wonderful culinary and service team, and hard-working front and back-of-house personnel. We shall continue to work closely with S.O.S Children's Villages in Thailand to create more fantastic opportunities for the country's vulnerable youth."
