WHA Utilities and Power Public Company Limited (WHAUP) has started the sale and distribution of electricity from the first phase of the Solar Rooftop project to Prinx Chengshan Tire (Thailand) Co., Ltd., a leading tire producer and distributor from China, representing a capacity of 19.44 MW. It has also signed a Power Purchase Agreement for the second phase, with 4.80 MW capacity, for a total capacity of 24.24 MW. The tire facility, located at WHA Eastern Seaboard Industrial Estate 3, in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC). CEO Somkiat Masunthasuwun announced that WHAUP's collaboration with Prinx Chengshan Tire (Thailand) emphasizes its capability to operate the largest solar rooftop project in Thailand. The company's CO2 emissions will be offset by 445,251 tons for the 25-year contract period.

Mr. Somkiat Masunthasuwun, Chief Executive Officer of WHA Utilities and Power PCL (WHAUP), announced the completion of the first phase of the Solar Rooftop installation project at Prinx Chengshan Tire (Thailand)'s facility, with a capacity of 19.44 MW. Commercial operations started in January 2023. The company also recently signed a Power Purchase Agreement for the second phase of Solar Rooftop at Prinx Chengshan Tire (Thailand), with a capacity of 4.80 MW. Covering a rooftop area of 40,000 square meters, Phase 2 is expected to be completed by 2024. This reflects the customer's trust in WHAUP since it relocated its production in 2018 to a 280-rai facility in WHA Eastern Seaboard Industrial Estate 3, which is also in the EEC. Meanwhile, the success of this project with a combined capacity of 24.24 MW reinforces WHAUP's position as Thailand's largest Solar Rooftop builder and operator, and reflects its ability to provide integrated solar rooftop installation services. With Phases 1 and 2, CO2 emissions will be offset by 445,251 tons for the 25-year contract period.

"This solar project will make the total electricity-generating capacity, based on WHAUP's shareholding equity, exceed 703.19 MW. Meanwhile, Mr. Zhang You Gan, Managing Director of Prinx Chengshan Tire (Thailand) Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Chengshan Group, said he was pleased to sign the Power Purchase Agreement for the Solar Rooftop Project Phase 2 with a capacity of 4.80 MW. The continuing collaboration with WHA Utilities and Power Plc will enable Prinx Chengshan Tire (Thailand) to generate a total of 24.24 MW using solar power. "This solar rooftop project will benefit both parties and help the environment in the long term. With the first phase, CO2 emissions will be offset by 357,118 tons throughout the 25-year contract period. With the second phase, CO2 emission will be offset by 88,133 tons, while reducing global warming and the greenhouse effect".
