Federal President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier commences a state visit to the Kingdom of Thailand, highlighted by a special tour to the Mercedes factory in Samut Prakan on January 25th, 2024. Extending a warm welcome, the Mercedes-Benz Thailand executives, representatives from the government sector, and business partners, led by Mr. Martin Schwenk, President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz (Thailand) Limited, Mr. Mark Berger, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing (Thailand) Ltd., H.E. Mr. Suriya Jungrungreangkit, Minister of Transport, Mr. Ratapon Viriyaphant, Chairman of Thonburi Automotive Assembly Plant Ltd., Mr. Siwat Charanyanond, Managing Director of Thonburi Automotive Assembly Plant Ltd., the focus of his factory visit is on the local assembly line of electric cars and the celebration of the production milestone - the unveiling of the 200,000th car, a "EQS" marking a significant moment in Thailand's automotive history.

Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Thailand Ltd., a 100% subsidiary of Mercedes-Benz Thailand Ltd. and Mercedes-Benz Group AG, has been in collaboration with Thonburi Automotive Assembly Plant Ltd. for over four decades. With 46 years of producing Mercedes-Benz passenger cars in Bangkok, the company has recently expanded its reach through exports under the ASEAN free trade agreement to Vietnam. The model range covers 13 different cars lines from A-Class, C-Class, E-Class, S-Class, GLA, GLC, GLE, GLS, C-Coupe, GLC-Coupe, CLS, Maybach S-Class, to the EQS, the company emphasizes a production concept known as CKD (Completely Knocked Down) to ensure flexibility and adaptability to market demands. As pioneers in local battery electric vehicle (BEV) production, the introduction of the EQS in 2022 reinforces their commitment to sustainable and cutting-edge automotive technology, as well as elevating the Thai automotive industry.
