BJC Big C joined in discussions with the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to promote economic growth, sustainability and community development in Vietnam, aiming to modernize traditional retail stores and to reinforce MM Mega Market Vietnam as an environmentally friendly retail business.

March 15, 2024 Mr. Aswin - Mrs. Thapanee Techajareonvikul, CEO and President and Senior Executive Vice President of BJC Big C Group recently met with Mr. Nguyen Van Dung, the Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City Municipal People's Committee in a collaborative effort to explore opportunities for mutual growth and development. The meeting, which served as a platform for fruitful discussions, underscored the Group's commitment to driving positive changes and fostering sustainable partnerships in Ho Chi Minh City and beyond.
Mr. Aswin said, "BJC Big C has allocated over USD 1 billion in long-term investments in various sectors including packaging, consumer goods, healthcare, engineering, and retail subsidiaries in Vietnam through subsidiaries including Thai Corp International (Vietnam), Ichiban Foods, Malaya Vietnam Glass (MVG), TBC-Ball Beverage Cans, BJC Cellox, Thai An Group, MM Mega Market (Vietnam) and Vina Paper."

BJC Big C's expansion investments, focusing on retail business to promote economic development in Vietnamese communities by leveraging its successful 'Gia Tot' (Good Price) program in Vietnam, based on the Donjai model in Thailand, to collaborate with the Vietnamese government and the Ho Chi Minh City, totaling 1,143 stores with the goal to reach 10,000 stores by 2028.

The 'Gia Tot' is a project that BJC Big C cooperates with the Vietnamese government and Ho Chi Minh City administration with the aim of establishing joint ventures or franchises with state-owned enterprises and retailers in the community. By improving traditional retail businesses into modern retail stores using a POS system or a storefront sales system. It also has a team of experts to give advice to entrepreneurs for helping them increase efficiency in selling products and manage important data that can be used for marketing plan in the future.

Meanwhile, BJC Big C reinforces the success of MM Mega Market Vietnam, the only retail store in Vietnam being awarded 'Green Business 2023' by Sai Gon Giai Phong (SGGP) Newspaper and the HCMC Union of Business Association (HUBA) from the 4th HCMC Economic Forum in 2023 (HEF 2023). This reflects retailers that focus on the environment with determination to create sustainable growth and follow national guidelines and to conduct business with social responsibility and to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2040.

MM Mega Market Vietnam (MMVN) is a fully integrated retail and wholesale store under the BJC Group, the largest in Vietnam with high satisfaction from Vietnamese consumers. There is a total of 21 stores in the country. MMVN is also an important distribution source for Thai products, especially the food and beverage products for HoReCa business sector that include hotels, restaurants, and catering businesses.
