Open daily from January 17, 2026, Roots & Rituals is featured at AGNI's Soi Ruamrudee venue. Curated by Maria Kolotovkina, an independent curator and art researcher based in Bangkok, the exhibition invites visitors into a space of reflection and attentive presence.
The exhibition reflects on cultural shifts that predate modern ideas of progress, tracing changing notions of identity and memory within Northern Thailand and Lanna traditions, and how deeper ancestral narratives have gradually faded within dominant histories. Rooted in ritual philosophy, Roots & Rituals approaches art as an unfolding process shaped by time, light, and movement, inviting visitors to slow down and engage.
Roots & Rituals features works by Dishon Yuldash and Swatchrokorn Wannasorn. Dishon Yuldash explores memory and transformation through sculpture, using smooth, fluid forms that respond to light and the viewer's movement. Swatchrokorn Wannasorn draws on the ritual traditions of Northern Thailand, creating works inspired by mythical figures associated with protection, strength, and humanity's relationship with nature, expressed through textured, tactile forms.
Maria Kolotovkina, Curator of the Exhibition, said: "Roots and Rituals explores the idea of ritual as something deeply embedded in everyday life; small gestures, repeated actions, and moments of awareness that quietly shape how we experience space, memory, and belonging. In this sense, the gallery becomes a living site of exchange, where art acts as a bridge between inner experience, collective memory, and the spaces we inhabit."
Roots and Rituals marks a foundational moment for AGNI, establishing the gallery as a platform where art functions as a connective force, between histories, geographies, and lived experience through shared presence and exchange.
Beyond exhibitions, AGNI collaborates closely with artists, collectors, and cultural partners across Southeast Asia and works with leading real estate developers to integrate art-led cultural programming into premium developments, demonstrating how contemporary art can enhance cultural dialogue and long-term brand and commercial value.
