The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is organising a film festival at the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC) for the weekend of January 20-22.
New Bangkok film festival to promote Soft Power Thai Film Industry, boost economy around the city.

The fest is in line with Deputy Governor of Bangkok, Sanon Wangsrangboon's policy to make the capital a liveable city for all.

"I am pleased and honoured to be part of the festival, which aims to promote the Thai film industry, stimulate the economy and create happiness among residents," Sanon told the press.

The event will also feature the "Bangkok, The Creative City" seminar and film technique workshops led by experts, directors and actors.

In a move to motivate amateur filmmakers, the BMA is also including a short-film contest in which Bangkokians up to the age of 28 can submit self-made 10 to 15-minute-long films under the theme "Connecting Bangkok 2030".

The top prize for the contest is a 65,000 baht cash award for the winner, 45,000 baht for the first runner-up, 30,000 baht for the second runner-up and 15,000 baht each for the four honourable mentions. The deadline for submission is January 15, and winning films will be screened during the three-day festival.

Separately, screening of contemporary Thai films and merchandise of products from 50 Bangkok districts will be available in the public area in front of BACC.
