SolarEdge Technologies, a global leader in smart energy solutions, announced today that it has surpassed 1 million installations of Rapid-Shutdown systems globally. With Hundreds of RSD systems already installed in Thailand, the field-proven inverter-embedded functionality was the first certified rapid shutdown with UL3741 in the country, meeting the new EIT mandatory regulation  that came into effect June 1st of last year.

Having already set the standard for safety in the PV industry with its SafeDC(TM), SolarEdge's Rapid Shutdown Functionality has been verified by the Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency (DEDE). The Electrical Installation Standard for Thailand (EIT) for rooftop solar systems 2022 states that the voltage of the rooftop solar array needs to be reduced to 80 volts within 30 seconds or pass the PV Hazard Control standard. The voltage on cables outside the array boundary must also reduce to no more than 30 volts within 30 seconds. Lastly, an emergency stop device must be conveniently placed in an easily accessible area such as an exterior wall in front of a building. This allows installers, maintenance workers, and firefighters to quickly handle the system after shutdown. Since SolarEdge systems include power electronics at the module level that can shut off power coming from the roof, these systems are able to de-energize PV source circuits to rapid shutdown specifications.

Daniel Huber, VP and General Manager ROW, at SolarEdge: "While solar safety requirements are the responsibility of each individual country and may vary according to region, progressive regulations such as EIT standard are having a collective impact on leading the solar industry towards improved system safety. SolarEdge remains committed to leading the development of safer solar solutions that meet the evolving needs of system owners, government regulations, insurance requirements, and long-term sustainability goals."

SolarEdge inverters have a standard 12-year warranty, extendable to 20 years, and a standard 25-year warranty for its Power Optimizers. Its module-level monitoring offers real-time system visibility and remote troubleshooting at no additional cost over the system's lifetime.  SolarEdge offers pre and post sales services to support installation requirements and help ensure lifetime profitability.
