SolarEdge Emphasizes its Leadership in Smart Energy and PV Technology at ASEW 2023

Monday 18 September 2023 09:46
SolarEdge, a global leader in smart energy and photovoltaic PV technology, marked a significant presence at the ASEAN Sustainable Energy Week 2023 (ASEW 2023). This event represented SolarEdge first innovation and technology exhibition in Thailand, underlining the growing significance of the Thai PV market for SolarEdge. Recognizing Thailand's rising demand for solar cell adoption- driven by consumer interest in reducing electricity bills and bolstered by supportive government measures. SolarEdge showcased a wide range of innovations, including PV commercial solutions (SolarEdge Power Optimizer), PV residential solutions (SolarEdge Home), and EV charging solutions, affirming its commitment to the Thai PV market.

SolarEdge has been a leader in Rapid Shutdown technology since 2014 and has successfully installed over 1 million Rapid Shutdown systems worldwide. With its extensive experience of 16 years and innovative solutions, SolarEdge has earned the trust of consumers in Thailand.

Mr. Daniel Huber, Chief Revenue Officer, SolarEdge, stated at the event "We're mainly attending in order to have the opportunity to listen and hear the market. To meet our customers, listen to their needs, understand the dynamic where the market goes to and understand what type of solutions they expect us to develop for them. That is the main objective for us."

One of the highlighted SolarEdge solutions demonstrated at the ASEW 2023 is SolarEdge Home solution. The Chief Revenue Officer mentioned, "What we are presenting new technology called SolarEdge Home solution, which is a full residential ecosystem solution that includes the PV, the storage, backup capability in case of power outage, and EV charging capability. Now customers here can benefit from a complete ecosystem that optimizes both the solar consumption and provides the full resilience in case of a blackout".

Encouraging Progress in the Thai PV market

Chief Revenue Officer, SolarEdge, also shares his vision of the SolarEdge roadmap in Thailand, "Our roadmap in the commercial segment is to continue to expand the portfolio into larger size inverters. We will introduce a 330 Kilowatts inverter next year and launch a larger capacity optimizer. And the residential segment, we would continue to expand our presence and increase market share around the SolarEdge Home solution."

In addition to the positive market trends, Mr. Huber also shed light on Thailand's growing solar consumption. He pointed out that solar installations are on the rise due to the economic reasons and government backing for renewable energy. Therefore, the market in Thailand is becoming stronger and also becoming more and more relevant and favorable for our technology.

The increasing use of electricity, driven by new electric devices and cars, creates a need for more power capacity. Mr. Huber emphasized that solar energy could meet this demand. As a result, SolarEdge is committed to offering a complete solution for residential use.

SolarEdge's Impressive Showcase at ASEW 2023

Weeruj Techasuwanna, Country Manager, SolarEdge Thailand expressed great satisfaction with the reception of the product unveiling at the ASEW 2023 and highlighted the company's latest innovation: a new Power optimizer featuring Sense Connect technology designed to measure irregular temperature at the PV connector. This marked the first-ever demonstration of the product's capabilities, and it garnered significant interest from the attending visitors.

In addition to showcasing the new optimizer, SolarEdge also presented their recently introduced Rapid Shutdown system, which became subject to regulations as of July 1 this year. While the concept of Rapid Shutdown is widely recognized, its operational intricacies remain less familiar to many. To bridge this knowledge gap, SolarEdge featured an interactive demonstration. Attendees were given the opportunity to engage by initiating the system and observing firsthand how it utilizes predetermined voltage settings.
