Asst. Prof. Dr. Nuttapon Nimmanphatcharin, President/CEO of depa highlighted the prevailing global trend of advancement and widespread implementation of 5G technology across various sectors, including manufacturing, medicine, education, agriculture, smart city development, and daily life activities. This technological progression is anticipated to pave the way for innovative applications derived from 5G technology, granting competitive advantages upon Thai entrepreneurs within the business landscape. Before this project, depa had continuously collaborated with partners to cultivate an ideal 5G technology ecosystem in Thailand, equipping itself to provide robust support for industrial production, services, agriculture, social development, and the advancement of smart cities.
Given all the aforementioned factors, the sub-committee of depa hereby grants its approval for the establishment of the 5G Solution Development and Application Center, as proposed by the Thai-German Institute (TGI), with supports from both the private and public sectors. The decision has been made that the 5G Solution Development and Application Center shall be situated within the confines of the AMATA City Chonburi Industrial Estate.
"This project represents a pivotal component of digitalization, using the 5G network to elevate the efficiency of industrial production, building on the expertise from the Thai-German Institute (TGI) in Mechatronics, Lean Automation, and Robotics. Notably, machinery and equipment within the facility will be connected to the 5G network, enabling automated information sharing and command execution. All of this is intended to prepare the facility as an optimal ecosystem to foster creativity and experimentation, thereby elevating the design of digital solutions (5G Testbed) for entrepreneurs in the industrial, manufacturing, and system integration sectors, positioning them for the impending era of Industry 4.0. It is estimated that following the launch of the 5G Solution, more than 10 projects will be put into practical use, with potential for these initiatives to fully evolve into fully-fledged products and services in the future, thereby expanding business opportunities," said the President/CEO of depa.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Nuttapon also emphasized that the 5G Solution Development and Application Center will serve as a learning hub dedicated to exploration of 5G technology's role in enhancing industrial production processes. The center will offer consulting services and provide an accessible space for entrepreneurs, students, and all individuals with an interest in the development of 5G Solution to fulfill market demands. Along with conducting workshops aimed at imparting knowledge and practical experience regarding the utilization of 5G networks in the industrial sector.
