Mr. Montri Rawanchaikul, Chief Executive Officer of PTTEP, said that PTIC was inaugurated in 2021 at the Eastern Economic Corridor of Innovation (EECi), to conduct and serve commercialization of research on technology and innovation in support of the quest to enhance the competitiveness of both PTTEP and the Thai economy. PTIC also takes on another significant role to develop technology-literate personnel. It is the venue for knowledge sharing among researchers and experts, as well as establishing an international research network to extend technological development in a sustainable manner.
In regard to technological and innovation advancements, PTTEP and its partners have showcased progress that aligns with the company's strategy, covering three main aspects. First, technologies that drive value and strengthen petroleum exploration & production (E&P) business, include technology to improve production process and operational efficiency, support offshore decommissioning activities, and implement waste management for E&P business using a circular model. Second, technologies for decarbonization reflect PTTEP's commitment to becoming a low-carbon organization. These technologies include those that convert carbon dioxide to valuable materials and projects under the Ocean for Life strategy, earmarked to enhance biodiversity within the underwater ecosystem which serves as a natural carbon sink. Finally, technologies that support the energy transition and new businesses include artificial intelligence and robotics, ocean wave energy harnessing, and the establishment of a green energy technology playground.
PTIC has made successful strides on several fronts, including progress in technological development that has led to pilot innovation projects, networking with new partners at both the national and international levels, and inspiring visitors to establish an Innovation Culture that will enhance Thailand's competitiveness.
