In an era where "food waste" has become a global megatrend, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Food Waste Index Report 2021 reported that over 1 billion edible meals are discarded daily by households worldwide. This food waste contributes to 8-10% of global greenhouse gas emissions, making food waste reduction a critical mission for all sectors worldwide.

To celebrate World Food Day and reaffirm its commitment to sustainability, Electrolux, with support from the Electrolux Food Foundation, continues its global initiative—the "Food Heroes Workshop". This program has reached over 300,000 children and youth in more than 30 countries, inspiring them to value food, make mindful consumption choices, and reduce food waste.

This year, Electrolux Thailand hosted the Food Heroes Workshop for 130 students at Rama IX Kanchanaphisek School, supported by over 30 employee volunteers. The workshop featured engaging activities such as drawing, coloring, and a simple cooking class—decorating cakes with fruit—to teach children about sustainable eating in a fun and interactive way.

The Food Heroes initiative encourages planet-friendly eating habits through three key principles: eat more plants, waste less food, and try new things. These principles aim to help children understand how their food choices impact the planet.

Alexis Richard, General Manager of Electrolux Thailand, shared, "Improving the well-being of people and the planet is at the heart of Electrolux. World Food Day is a meaningful opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of food in our lives—it fuels us, supports our health, and strengthens family bonds. Food waste is a pressing issue, and starting with children is key to building a sustainable future. We're proud to see this initiative nurturing young food heroes here in Thailand."
