Huawei Technologies (Thailand) Co., Ltd. recently held its annual "Seeds for the Future 2021" event in Bangkok with the aim to sharpen the ICT skills of young tech enthusiasts and help talented students discover their true potential through hands-on ICT training designed by industry experts. The program's certificate ceremony was presided over by Ms. Ajarin Pattanapanchai, Ministry of Digital Economy and Society Permanent Secretary.
This year, 15 undergraduates from Chulalongkorn University, Thammasat University, King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL), Khon Kaen University and Rangsit University were selected on the basis of their academic achievements. During trainings and classroom discussions, the Thailand delegation were joined by those from Uzbekistan and Belarus.
The intensive 8-day program includes ICT courses live streamed from Huawei headquarters in Shenzhen, offline courses held exclusively at Huawei office, an extensive a comprehensive tour of Thailand 5G Ecosystem Innovation Centre (5G EIC) and Chinese culture workshop such as Chinese calligraphy. Students were able to share about their own culture and learn about the ICT scene in the countries of their fellow students.
The course was uniquely curated by Huawei experts to better equip the students to excel in both local and international career setting. Apart from the mandatory online courses on 5G, IoT, AI, Cloud Computing, participants also joined a dynamic classroom where they worked together on the "TECH4Good" project to discuss ways we can make our society better through technology. Official certificates were given to all participants as proof of course completion.
"This program gave me an overview of the industry and the future ICT. The technology skills training is produced by people with in-depth knowledge. Activities including a site visit to the depa office and the TECH4Good project, which discussed how technology contributes to social development, helped bring us closer to the current labor market and prepare us for the real ICT life. I have no doubt that everything we have learned will give us a big career boost and lead to great opportunities. I would like to thank Huawei for organizing this inspiring Seeds for The Future program," said Ms. Patcharin Boonsomchua, Electrical Communication and Electronic Engineering student from King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi.
During her address at the certificate ceremony, Ms. Ajarin Pattanapanchai, Ministry of Digital Economy and Society Permanent Secretary, emphasized on the importance of human capital development in the technology-driven world. "At MDES, we are tasked with developing a digital economy and society to improve the quality of life for Thai people. Together with the support from different sectors, we come up with ways to provide high quality digital infrastructure and promote inclusive digital ecosystem for all," said Ms. Ajarin. "However, at the core of today's digital economy and society is ICT talent development. The Ministry believes that hands-on education can bring many benefits to students as they enter the labor market. This is why talent development initiatives such as "Seeds for the Future" will always have our full support. My thanks go to Huawei for its continuous investment in talent development and its long-term contributions towards Thailand 4.0, " she concluded.
