UOB Thailand officially opened its new head office in Bangkok yesterday, reaffirming its long-term commitment to serve customers, employees, business partners and the community in Thailand.

UOB Thailand's new head office is located at the heart of Sukhumvit road. The 30-floor building, with more than 27,000 square metres of floor area, houses about 2,000 employees. It is also a Green building that was constructed using cutting-edge technology, which reduces its overall impact on the environment. UOB Thailand is the second-largest subsidiary of UOB Group, as well as Thailand's second-largest foreign bank. It employs nearly 10,000 people in the country.

Mr Wee Ee Cheong, Chairman of UOB Thailand and Deputy Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of UOB, said, "Thailand is very important market to UOB. We have been helping our customers here grow their wealth and businesses since 1999.

"This year marks an important milestone in our years of operation in the country. We are scaling up through the recent investments, which includes the acquisition of Citigroup's retail business completed on 1 November and the opening of UOB Plaza Bangkok.

"Our investment in UOB Plaza underscores our unwavering commitment to Thailand. Backed by our unique blend of regional scale and local market expertise, we are here to support customers in seizing regional opportunities and expand their businesses in this dynamic region."

The official opening ceremony of UOB Plaza Bangkok was officiated by Mr Arkom Termpittayapaisith, Thailand's Minister of Finance, Mr Gan Kim Yong, Singapore's Minister for Trade and Industry and Mr Kevin Cheok, Singapore's Ambassador to the Kingdom of Thailand. More than 200 customers and business partners attended the reception.

UOB Thailand is the only Singapore bank with full banking operations in Thailand. Beyond banking, the Bank is steadfast in uplifting the community through its various corporate social responsibility projects. Since 1999, the Bank has supported more than 30 charities. Its Painting of the Year competition has also helped budding artists showcase their work annually in the region. This year, the Southeast Asian Painting of the Year was awarded to a young Thai artist.
